Kadek Aldi's Story

When Kadek Aldi was a baby he had an eye infection and a high temperature a local Medicine woman decided that what was needed was to put the sap from a very pungent leaf that is found high in the mountain and usually is used to treat Arthritis in his eyes, this she repeated for a few days the result was Leokoma adhesion daises, he was left with poor opaque vision in both eyes.

Aldi’s mum had given birth to six children one was born dead four died of malnutrition, Ade Aldi’s mum herself suffering from heart problems as a result of malnutrition.

He the only survivor remained virtually blind till he was eight years old and was found by Yayasan Masa Depan untuk Anak-Anak a group we have great cooperation with and brought down to us so we could look after him and his mum till he could get his eyes operated on.

He remained with us for a while going back and forth to Sanglah where he received Irridocystectomy optic surgery enabling him to have 30 to 40 percent vision.
